EBOR Helps Fosse Park Get NAR Grant

Egyptian Board of REALTORS® presented a check to Marion Park
District April 8, 2019 for a transformation of an existing complex at Fosse
Park.

Through National Association of REALTORS’ Placemaking Grant
and EBOR’s Good Works Grant Fund, EBOR was able to donate $2,000 for a pergola and
bench seating.

The Placemaking grant is available to REALTOR Associations
to help make their communities a better place by transforming unused sites to
welcoming destinations.

“We are thrilled that you have partnered with us on this
complex,” Marion Park District Park Manager, Jack Reed said

The new seating equipment now resides on an abandoned
crochet complex from the late 60s, early 70s time period, according to Reed.

Reed says the job was done completely in house by the park
services department. The pergola, displaying EBOR’s logo, covers two blue
benches encompassed by crushed Alabama Red Shell, which was left over from an
upgrade to the baseball and softball fields. Surrounding the seating area are
four sets of cornhole boards, made of concrete.

“These are made by a company in northern Illinois. They
weigh about 600 pounds apiece,” Reed said.  “I’m thrilled with how it turned out. Our
parks services guys built a really nice sidewalk back around to it.”

The service department also made the area accessible at after
dark by changing the lighting.

Reed says residents have already been enjoying the remodeled
complex.

More upgrades are in the works at Fosse Park.
