Bald Knob Cross Best Unobstructed Eclipse View at 1034ft
Egyptian Board of REALTORS® is partnering with Bald Knob Cross to provide an unforgettable view of the Great American Total Eclipse on August 21, 2017,at the highest viewing area in southern Illinois. With packages starting at $50 per person, viewers will have a 360 degree unobstructed view of the sun’s coronal flares at 1034 feet above sea level.
Bald Knob Cross of Peace resides in southern Illinois within the path of the eclipse’s longest duration point, the location where the total eclipse lasts the longest along the entire path. On August 21st, at approximately 1:20 p.m. the moon will completely cover the sun above Bald Knob Cross for two minutes and 38 seconds.
“Being a part of the 2017 Total Eclipse Event at Bald Knob is just another example of how Realtors® care about their communities and we are so excited to participate in this once in a lifetime event,” Egyptian Board of REALTORS Association Executive, Charay Palmer said.
The Egyptian Board of REALTORS® is a non-profit organization for over 500 Realtor® members and Affiliates located throughout the 27 southernmost counties in Illinois. “We have been collaborating with the Bald Knob Cross of Peace, Murphysboro Key Club and In the Wind Ministries for over a year to make this event memorable for everyone who attends. My Realtor® volunteers will be on hand that day to help wherever we are needed,” Palmer said.
There are two types of ticket packages. The Serious Viewers package includes onsite parking and a 10X10 area, T-shirt, eclipse glasses and other amenities for $250. Casual Viewers tickets are $50 per person and include shuttle to the Cross, as well as viewing glasses, a T-shirt and additional items. It is important for the community to know this is a ticketed event. It will not be possible to drive up to the cross without a ticket and parking pass. Normal Bald Knob Cross standard procedures, including free admission and on-site parking will resume on August 22, 2017.
Both ticket packages are still available. Tickets will be sold through August 7, 2017.
